      Community Calendar Starting March 6th

 

Hope For Haiti Marketplace:  Saturday, March 6, 10AM – 2PM at Chestnut Village (Brethren Retirement Community Campus), Greenville will be all types of vendors to shop at, food, prizes, fellowship and fun.  Proceeds from this event will be donated to United Methodist Committee on Relief to support disaster relief in Haiti.

Winchester’s Lions Club Pancake & Sausage Breakfast:  Saturday, March 6, 7 – 11AM at the Main St Christian Church.  Enter west & north doors.  Donation of $4.50 in advance and $5 at the door.  Children 9 and under free.  All proceeds go to Lions your programs.

New Weston Community Improvement Sunday Brunch:  Sunday, March 7, 8 – 12 at the New Weston Community Hall.  This is an all you can eat and lots of breakfast items to choose from.  Cost is 11 – up/$5, 4-10/$3 and 3and under/free. Willowdell Pancake & Sausage Dinner:  Sunday, March 7, 11AM – 1:30PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Willowdell. a benefit will be held for medical expenses for Kiersten Rose Henry, 6 month daughter of Steve & Tracy Henry.   Cost is a donation.

Versailles Lions Club Pancake Breakfast:  Sunday, March 7, 7:30 – 12:30 at the St. Denis Catholic Church Basement.    Cost is $6/adult and children 12 and under/$3.  All proceeds to benefit Lions charities.

Marion Young Farmers:  Sunday, March 7, 9 – 12 at the Knights of St. Johns Hall, Maria Stein will be an all you can eat breakfast.  Cost is 13 and over/$6, 6-12/$4 and 5 & under/free.  All proceeds to help support local scholarships and organizations.

Darke County Blood Drawing:

Monday, March 8, 3 – 6:30PM at the American Heritage Assisted Living, Staudt Dr., Union City.  Sponsored by Union City Lions Club & American Heritage Assisted Living.  Open to the community.

Monday, March 8, 3 – 6PM at the Gordon United Methodist Church, East Street, Gordon and sponsored by the church.  Open to the community.

Tuesday, March 9, 10:30am – 6:30pm – Souper Community Blood Drive at the Moose Lodge, #329, Sweitzer St., Greenville and sponsored by Moose Lodge & Women of the Moose.  Donor will be served homemade soup, sandwiches and cookies made by the Women of the Moose.  Open to the community.

Keys to Diabetes Self-Management:  Tuesday, March 9, 2 – 3PM at Wayne Hospital.  The cost is free.  For questions call 547-5750.

Seniors Citizen’s Culture Night:  Greenville Transit System will be offering roundtrip transportation for Greenville Senior Citizens to enjoy DCCA presentations at the Greenville Country Club on March 18, 7 – 9PM.  Cost to ride the transit will be $5 roundtrip and must be booked by March 10 by calling 547-1811.  Event tickets to hear the classical pianist Warren Mailley-Smith are $10 and available by calling 547-0908.

Ansonia American Legion Fish & Chip Dinners:  Friday, March 12, 4 – 7 PM at the legion hall in Ansonia will be offering fish & chip dinners and carryout is available. Cost is $6/11 and over and children 5-11/$3.

Union City Community High School Spring Musical:  Friday, March 12 & Saturday, March 13 at the West Side Middle School Cafeterium , the high school will present “The Wizard of Oz”.  Tickets are available at the North Side Elementary School office or at the UC High School. Darke County Singles Dance:  Saturday, March 13, 8:30 – 12 at the VFW Hall, Greenville.  Music provided by “Country Gold”.  Must be 21 or over and admission is $5.  For information call 968-5007.

Democrat Breakfast: Saturday, March 13, 8AM at the Fairlawn Restaurant will be an early riser breakfast.  Speaker will be the Editor of the Daily Advocate.  Cost is $7/person and everyone is welcome.  For reservations please call 273-3865 or 548-4517.

Greenville High School Theatre Club Presentation: Saturday, March 13, 7PM at St. Claire Memorial Hall, the theatre club will be performing “May I Have Your Attention, Please” and ‘Man of the House”.  Tickets are $5 at the door and doors open at 6:30, show begins at 7PM.  The theatre club is very excited about sharing with the community their plays which have been chosen to be performed at the State Conference at Ashland University.  This event is a fundraiser for their trip.  Let’s all wish them good luck.

Man 2 Man Breakfast:  Saturday, March 13 at the community building, downtown Union City will be the regular monthly breakfast.  For information call 765-964-5603.

Union City Ball Player Registration: Registration will be held on Saturday’s March 13 & 20 at the Union City IN Police Department.  Baseball signup will be from 9 – 12 and softball 12 – 3.  Plan a fun time this summer playing ball.

Darke County Harness Horsemen’s Association Banquet:  Sunday, March 14, 5:30PM at the Darke County Fair grounds youth building.  2010 Memberships sold at the door.  Please bring a covered dish, meat and drinks will be furnished.  RSVP to 547-1875 or 423-4115.

American Legion Sunday Breakfast:  Sunday, March 14 and each Sunday thru April 25 will be an all you can eat breakfast.  Serving time will be 8 until noon and cost is $7/person.  All proceeds to Post 140 children & youth programs.

Versailles Vets Club Chicken Fry:  Sunday, March 14, 4PM until sold out will a chicken fry at the vets club.  No phone orders please.  Everyone welcome.

Greenville Elks Sunday Breakfast: Sunday, March 14, 8 – 12:30 at the Elks Lodge in Greenville will be an all you can buffet with waffle bar.  Omelets and eggs made to order.  Cost is adult/$7, seniors/$6 and children 10 and under/$4.  Everyone welcome.

Houston Community Center’s 6th Annual Chicken or Beef Noodle Dinner:  Sunday, March 14, 10:30AM – 1PM at the Community center in Houston.  Serving chicken & noodles or beef & noodles and all the trimmings.  Cost is adult/$6 and children 12 and under/$3.50.  Homemade deserts and pop will also be available.

American Red Cross Community CPR and AED Classes:  Sunday, March 14, 2PM at the Lockington Firehouse, Museum Trail, Lockington will be classes offered to learn life saving skills.  Cost is $20 and all proceeds will benefit the local Red Cross.  If interested you must register by Thursday March 11.  by contacting assistant chief Lee Adams at 418-2762.

Nutrient Management & Cover Crop Workshop:  Monday, March 15 will be a informational workshop on cover crop and nutrient management at the Darke County Nature Center.  Registration is required and must be made by March 11 to receive a free lunch and materials by calling 548-1715, ext.3.  Space is limited.

Darke County Blood Drawing:

Monday, March 15, 11AM – 7PM at the Versailles K of C Hall, St Rte 47, Versailles.  This Souper Community Blood Drive is sponsored by Versailles Rotary club.   Open to the community.

Annual Tree Seedling Sales:  The Darke Soil & Water Conservation District is currently holding their annual tree seedling sales.  This year they are offering packets for everyone from small to larger ones.  For order forms call 548-1715 ext 3 or stop by the office at South Towne Court, Greenville.  Deadline for orders is Friday, March 26.

Ansonia Scouting Books Available: To celebrate the 100th Birthday of Scouting, Ansonia Scouts have printed 2 booklets covering Troop #114 from 1929 – 2010 and Pack #114 from 1945 – 2010.  Names on the charters, photos and memories dedicated to all the volunteers, leaders and scouts.  Help celebrate the 100th Birthday of the Boy Scouts of America and learn the interesting story of scouting in Ansonia.  Too purchase a booklet call 337-4742 or 337-3284.
